• BRS is successfully helping a large West Coast Joint Powers Insurance Authority (JPIA) control workers’ compensation costs by implementing a tailored Disability/Return-to-Work Program. Two years into the Program, measurable benchmarks and outcome tracking metrics indicate the JPIA has a 23% decrease in total incurred costs; 21% reduction in temporary disability; 41% reduction in medical costs; and 37% non-referral rate.
• A large West Coast JPA’s claim frequency dropped over 50% since the inception of BRS’ proprietary EPL program and administrative leadership. The JPA’s 160+ members have never had an EPL verdict in excess of $480,000; others cities and public entities not in the JPA in the same state, over the same time period, have had numerous multi-million dollar verdicts. BRS continues to provide the JPA with useful EPL/HR tools that maximize efficient and effective workplace growth, while reducing costly civil litigations and employee lawsuits.
• Using BRS studies, tools and solutions over a seven-year period, loss frequency of a large Northern California City has dropped below other California Self-Insured Cities based on claims per 100 employees (reported by the California Department of Industrial Relations). Injuries declined from 24.2 per 100 employees in 2000 to 10.17 injuries per 100 employees in 2007. Loss frequency of the average California Self-Insured City dropped from 17.56 injuries per 100 employees in 2000 to 10.75 injuries per 100 employees in 2007.
• After performing a complete risk assessment for a large Southern California County, BRS assisted the county in identifying ways to control loss costs. A catalyst for change, BRS’ risk control recommendations to the county contributed to workers’ compensation savings of $1,895,000 in 2005; $1,525,000 in 2006; and $1,861,000 in 2007.
